For Gian Gordon-Whyte — your real estate clients and property tax
Hi Ms. Gordon-Whyte,
I'm a founder researching how small commercial property owners ($1–8M buildings) handle their property tax assessments, and your practice's real-estate-investor focus in Decatur is why I'm reaching out. DeKalb's appeal window is open until about July 14 this year.
I'm not selling anything — I'm trying to learn whether a contingency appeal service (owner pays only a percentage of tax savings actually won) would earn referrals from CPAs who serve investors, or whether owners just absorb the bill.
From county data, buildings assessed 25%+ above comparable properties in their own assessor neighborhood are common, and the owners have almost never appealed.
Could I grab 15 minutes Tuesday June 16 (12–2:30pm ET) or Thursday June 18 (12:30–4pm ET)? Happy to work around you. I'll share what I learn across these conversations — it seems like nobody serves your clients' size tier well, and I'd like to know if that's true.
